We support ARTS because quality of life is created !
As Calhoun County’s arts advocate, the AIC’s mission is to improve quality of life through the arts by
focusing on four strategic areas of action. The AIC is a service agency
and will only succeed if it can successfully develop, deliver, measure,
and market what the community wants and needs. At the same time,
effective arts advocacy organizations must inform, educate and raise
the bar on community knowledge and expectations. In 2005, the AIC
completed a strategic planning process and the following areas of
action along with corresponding three to five-year goals were outlined:
1. Growing the Arts and Creative Industries: We
will play a leadership role in identifying and facilitating processes
and/or initiatives that will help regional arts and cultural
opportunities expand and flourish.An “art is everywhere program” will be funded and operational.

There will be an operational arts and culture incubator space serving our region.

There will be artist live-work space within each downtown in Calhoun County.

A regional creative industry development program will be funded and operational.

Cultural tourism opportunities in the region will be measured and growing.
2. Marketing the Arts: We
will creatively and actively market, promote and advertise current and
upcoming arts and cultural events, activities, and artists in the
Calhoun Area.

A regional arts and culture marketing plan will be developed, funded and executed.

A new AIC interactive website will be operational.
3. Advocating for the Arts: We
will passionately and actively support, recommend, defend, and promote
the arts and their social and economic value to elected officials,
community leaders, businesses, and the general public.

of our arts and culture organizations, elected officials, and community
leaders will be aware of regional arts and culture activities, their
impact and availability.

60% of businesses and citizens will be aware of the arts and culture presence in the region.

Calhoun
County will have an arts and culture millage plan outlined and early
steps of plan support-building strategies will be underway.
4. Facilitating a Regional Arts Network: We
will facilitate communication, cooperation and partnership between
artists, arts and cultural organizations, and other community groups to
help them collectively meet community needs and expand audiences.
