INVESTMENTS THAT MAKE THIS REGION A BETTER PLACE TO LIVE AND WORK...

Invest in Public Art
Invest in the community by sponsoring a particular public art project or a series of projects across the region. Projects may include sculpture, murals, landscape architecture, trail signage, and many other forms of aesthetic improvements to public spaces. Sponsors may take a “hands-on” approach in the selection of artwork or simply contribute to the public art pool, which is administered by the AIC’s Public Art Commission. Either way, an investment in public art will serve to make our cities more livable, increase cultural tourism and to strengthen our ability to attract and retain top notch businesses and their employees.

Invest in Creative Industries Incubators
Incubators provide affordable space, shared equipment, technical support and business development services to emerging artists and arts-related businesses. There is national evidence that neighborhoods with vibrant arts centers have higher property values and lower out-migration. An investment in the Incubation Network will allow these centers to add additional equipment, pay for needed supplies and to provide the support services necessary to launch new arts businesses. Incubator sponsors will be directly contributing to the creation of jobs and local economic growth.

Promote the Arts, Promote our Community

A vibrant arts community attracts visitors, residents, and businesses. The Greater Calhoun County Area is home to hundreds of exceptionally talented artists and some of Michigan’s best performing arts programs. The AIC needs your help in getting the word out. The region’s first-ever Arts Directory and Arts Calendar are teeming with information about things to do, exhibits, performances, venues to visit, and artists available for hire. Over 4,000 new visitors come to this site every month. Sponsors may show their support for the arts by adding their logo to the Calendar, the AIC Newsletter, and/or the Arts Directory.

Invest in the Grants Pool
Providing grants to arts organizations and emerging artists is absolutely critical to the health of our region’s creative infrastructure. An investment in the grants pool will directly result in new arts programs, performances, and/or products that can be enjoyed by all. The Community Development Artist in Residence Program provides funding to non-profit arts organizations for expanded program offerings. The Emerging Artist Grant Program provides mini-grants to new artists so that they may create prototypes and identify first-time markets for their work. Both programs play an important role in growing the arts and arts businesses.
